Union of glass and natural materials

The customised large Lucia Pavilion with a brown frame, bronze-tinted glazing and steeper than usual roof was built in a beautiful pond landscape in Western Finland.

“We dreamt of a summer kitchen you could use in every weather. What convinced us about the pavilion was that there were no walls to paint, there is very little upkeep needed and you have a view in every direction.”

Lucia's design was guided by the desire to use the space not only for our own family's pastime but also for representation. There is a sauna building and a dammed pond next to the pavilion location. The glass pavilion was lifted from the truck platform onto the finished stone foundation, where we had pre-installed underfloor heating and electrical resistance.
